SIN - A SNARESpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: Whatever may be the sins that you are bound in today, the Lord is waiting to purge you of your sins and redeem you. What does sin do and what is its nature?
The Bible says that sin binds us. If you read Proverbs 5:22 the Bible says, "His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, and he is caught in the cords of his sin." The cause of the sin binds him and it becomes a trap to him. In the Gospel according to St. John 8:34 Jesus said; "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin."
The news about the plight of two young men living in United Kingdom was published in the newspapers. These two young men worked very hard everyday and earned their livelihood. When the evening approached and having much money in their hands they did not know what to do. Initially they bought drugs and consumed it. Gradually they became trapped and this habit became deep rooted that they could not live without it. They were working and living only for drugs. Drugs became a primary need in their lives. They worked hard only to purchase drugs. This is how sin binds and once a person finds himself trapped in it he begins to struggle.
One day, as we waited at the railway station in the well known and technically advanced city called Frankfurt in Germany we witnessed people returning from their respective places of work in the evening. They looked very respectable, were well dressed, wearing coat, suit, and tie, and there was an air of elegance in their actions. However, at the entrance of the station many vendors were waiting with syringes and needles in their hands, eagerly expecting when these people who happened to be their customers would come out of the station. They casually removed their coats, rolled up their sleeves and showed their hands to these vendors. Immediately they administered the drugs they demanded using the syringes and needles that they had in store. After the injection of these drugs into their bodies, once again they put on their coats and go home. Yes sin has bound them to such an extent.
Do you want to be saved from this sin? Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and invite Him to dwell in your heart. He is the only One who can cleanse you of your sins. So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:31 The Psalmist says God brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. Psalms 40:2 Whatever may the sins that you are bound in today, the Lord is waiting to purge you of your sins and redeem you.
Prayer
Almighty God,
I confess that none could convict You of sin because You are a mighty God. Cleanse me of all my sins and set me in the path of righteousness. Please pull me out from the horrible pit of miry clay and keep me away from the evil ways of this world. I commend myself into Your loving hands for Your divine protection and guidance throughout this day.
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen |
