DELIGHT IN THE DISCERNER Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: The main cause for quarrel, strife, confusion and divisions in a family is failure to mediate upon the word of God. Before pin pointing the faults in others, let us analyze our life carefully. In what sort of a family will God's presence abide?
The Bible says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33). How can we seek the kingdom of God in a family life? By casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
The Scripture says, "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper" (Psalms 1:2,3). The Lord dwells in a family wherein the head of the family, along with his wife and children delight in reading the word of God. Just check whether you read the word of God daily and delight in it. Today make a firm decision about reading the word of God daily. Those who obey His words are bestowed with blessings.
My wedding took place in the year 1959. By the grace of God, from that day onwards my husband and myself have feared the Lord by giving paramount importance to reading His words and verses. Thereby we always feel the Lord's presence in our family life. Even if problems that look like a mountain seem to arise we have the assurance that our loving Lord is with us.
As we move closer and closer to God in our spiritual realm simultaneously burdens and problems also come along our way. But remember amidst all these the Lord will surely walk with you. Many are the people who fail in heeding God's word nor do they delight in meditating upon His words day and night and as a consequence they lose these wonderful blessings.
I know of a man who is the head of his family. He would open the Bible and read whichever passage his eyes rests upon and then would altogether forget about it. Do not deceive yourselves by such actions.
Cling firmly to the Lord in the days of your youth. When I was sixteen years old, I accepted and invited the Lord and ever since He has always been blessing me. Read the Bible with reverential fear and the Lord will speak to you. Problems may arise in your place of work or in your family but when you read God's word, you will feel His awesome presence.

Shall we ask this question, "Is God dwelling in my life and walking with me?" According to this verse found in Romans 10:17, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" when you begin to read and delight in the word of God, which is living, powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart, He will increase your faith and bless you abundantly.

Loving Lord,
I praise You because You always care for me. Help me to cast all my burden upon You. I request You to give me the grace to meditate and delight in Your word day and night. Let me be like a tree that is planted by the river. Please come and abide in me and in my home. Remove all the unnecessary strife, confusion and divisions that arise in my family and help me to be firmly rooted in Your word. Increase my faith and bless me.
