GOD KNOWS YOUR FRAMESpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: Quite often loss, worries and temptation make us drift away, deny and depart from the Lord. The Lord is aware of this because He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust. Many a times and oft, we wander away from the Lord. Prophet Isaiah cries, "In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. (Isaiah 59:13) "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns; broken cisterns that can hold no water." Jeremiah 2:13. The Lord painfully says that people have shown their backs and departed from Him.
Why does one depart from the Lord? The answer is the problems of the world choke us to such an extent that we tend to easily depart from God. The worries, temptations and thorns of this world torment us quite often that we become weary and angrily say, "What is the use of following this Jesus Christ? What have I gained by rushing behind the presence of God? Of what use is my attending the church regularly? Why does such unbearable problems approach me alone? Why is the Lord still silent?" Many such questions arise in our minds even without our knowledge making us greatly troubled. It is then we wander away from the Lord.
When hope depletes worries of this world overwhelm and begin to choke us. Our Lord already knows the path of agony which one travels when pricked by the thorns of the worries of the world. God knows that we lie and depart from Him as a consequence of being burdened by the pressures caused by the worries of this world.
I lost my only beloved sister Angel in a gruesome accident, which took place on the 21st of May 1986. We as a family were shattered. Besides being drenched in inexpressible agony, questions such as the following, "Have we not lived a truthful life before the Lord Jesus Christ? Did we not minister sincerely unto Him? Did we not fervently pray with tears day and night for others in His name? For the sake of the Lord did we not forsake our own simple joys, health and family well-being and reach out to those in need? Why did the Lord snatch Angel whom we loved so dearly?" arose and greatly troubled us.
A thought even like this ran through my mind, "Is God really good?" Reading the Bible and praying became a difficult task. Whenever I tried to pray, "Lord! where is Your love and compassion? Why did you take Angel from me? People have started preaching, speaking and spreading unnecessary rumors about us. Why this agony? Are You truly a God of goodness?" were the questions that popped up in my mind's screen like the waves in the sea. For two months I suffered unable to meditate upon God's word nor pray properly.
Quite often loss, worries and temptation make us drift away, deny and depart from the Lord. The Lord is aware of this because He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust. Therefore the Lord says, "My dear children who have drifted away from me, who have rejected My teachings and have backslidden come back to Me. Who is there besides Me to help you live in this world? I will by no means cast you away. When temptations surrounds or while being in the midst of temptation or if you walk through the valley of darkness come unto Me. I will not forsake but forgive your backsliding nature and will heal your wounds. I will embrace you and set you in the right path." Therefore be of good cheer because the Lord is waiting with His hands wide open to bless you. Just return now and find safety in His protecting hands.
Prayer
Loving Lord,
You are greater than this war that is raging inside of me. Give me the wisdom to discern what is important and what is not. Help me to stop running in circles and discover Your purpose and plan and then follow it. It is there I know my heart will find the joy and peace. Open my eyes to a greater purpose than myself and my own selfish desires. Let Your desires become my desires.
In Jesus name I ask.
Amen |
