VESSEL OF HONOUR

Speaker: Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: Today the Lord is waiting to bless you by making you a vessel of honour. The Lord promises in Deuteronomy 28:13, " "And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath..."

God satisfies the longing and the hungry soul with His goodness. Today we are going to meditate upon the vessel of honour. How to be a vessel of honour? The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:20-21, "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." We consider the vessel of gold to be very precious and use it only for very honourable people. God says I am going to make you a vessel of honour. Today God has a plan and purpose for you and He desires to make you a vessel of gold. Truly we have a very loving God.

Only a cleansed vessel becomes a vessel of honour. God will sanctify, make us useful for Him in such a way that we would be prepared to do any good work. Therefore it is necessary that we be cleansed. How can we be made clean? It is not possible to purge ourselves but only our Lord Jesus Christ can cleanse us. One may say that they are an empty vessel as the Bible says in Jeremiah 51:34, "He has made me an empty vessel..." Perhaps you are saying "Lord I am nothing. I am unworthy to receive Your blessings." Or, you may think that you are a broken vessel, one which is broken both in the mind and soul. King David says in Psalms 31:12, "I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I am like a broken vessel." Today the Lord is waiting to bless you by making you a vessel of honour. The Lord promises in Deuteronomy 28:13, " "And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath..."

I came across an anecdote in a book. A young girl and a young boy loved each other very dearly. The girl gave her photograph and asked him to keep it very safely. He received it with great enthusiasm and placed it in a photo frame and kept it beside his bed. Then a thought struck him. He wondered, "I have just a single copy of this photograph. If only I could get another copy I will preserve it." He took the photograph along with the photo frame to a studio and asked the owner to get him another copy of the photograph. When he removed the photograph from the frame some sentences were written behind the photograph. The girl had written the following, "Oh dear! I love you very much. Daily I love you. I will love you till the end." There was a footnote stating, "Oh dear! In case our bond breaks, then remember to return this photograph to me." The love of human being is mortal. But the love of God is immortal because we read that He loves us very dearly according to 1 Peter 2:9, " But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" God has chosen us to be His royal priesthood. Indeed we have a very loving God who says that we belong to Him. That is the reason why He wants to make us a vessel of honour. Therefore dearly beloved, do not be disheartened or worried. Today God is going to make us a vessel of honour.

Prayer

Loving Lord,

I praise You because You have chosen me as Your own and called me out of darkness into the marvellous light. Please make me into a vessel of honour by cleansing me with Your precious blood and through the Holy Spirit. Grant me the grace to rely only on Your immortal love and not be carried away by human promises. Help me to trust You always and be blessed by You in all that I do.

All glory, honour and praises belong to You alone.

Amen
