RECEIVE THE REWARD Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward. The favour of the Lord means the hand of the Lord should work along with you. King David says, "The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands." Psalm 138:8
"Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous" Genesis 26:12,13
Isaac sowed the seeds, the Almighty God touched it and therefore he reaped a hundredfold.
"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase." 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
The Lord says I will work with you and then the fruit of your labour will prosper. Therefore, it is much more necessary for us to seek the help of our Lord. Wake up early in the morning and seek Him. The Bible says, "I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me" Proverbs 8:17. Every day let us plead saying, "Lord, please come along with me to my place of work." Then surely the Lord will come with you and as king David had said the Lord would perfect that which concerns you.
Our Almighty God will not respond to your call just like that. "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it" (Malachi 3:10). Determine and decide to give one-tenth to the Lord. "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you" Luke 6:38
Some say, "I would give liberally to the church but not to the servants of God." Just imagine if it is possible for a church or any ministry to exist without the servants of God? Jesus Christ says, "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward" Matthew 10:40-42
My dearly beloved, give cheerfully and liberally unto the servants of God. "The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself" Proverbs 11:25
The Psalmist says, "Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord, "You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You." As for the saints who are on the earth, "They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight" Psalms 16:1-3.
In the year 1955, having failed to complete my BSc degree course even after attempting twice I studied again. One day at night preoccupied with thoughts such as, "Would I ever succeed this time? Would I ever get a job? How would my future be?" I was much worried. Later, I successfully graduated and also got employed in a bank. In course of time, I was promoted and also received a hike in salary. I gladly sent a small portion of the amount received on account of this promotion to a person who sincerely prayed shedding tears for my salvation and welfare.
The response letter from him had thus to say: "My dear son, you have been faithfully supporting me all these years. Now I am 81 years old. My joy is inexpressible for it seems as if I have been given this promotion. Surely the Lord will bless you abundantly."
Dearly beloved, may the saints and the excellent ones on this earth receive a small portion of your support and let that be your delight. The Lord Jesus Christ says, "Freely you have received, freely give" (Matthew 10:8). I pray with the same compassion and love for every one who seeks my personal prayers for them. The Lord asks us to give out of your treasures unto Him. Give a portion of your abundance to sincere servants of God. Then the Almighty God will surely bless you a hundredfold and make you happy.
Prayer
My heavenly Father,
I praise and thank You because You perfect everything that concerns me. Help me to seek You early in the morning everyday. Please come with me to my place of work and prosper all the works of my hand. I confess that nothing is possible for me because Your word says, 'Not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit." Grant me the wisdom to give liberally and cheerfully to the saints on this earth and delight in it. Please bless me a hundredfold and make me happy this day.
