TRUST IN THE LORDSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Scripture says it is better to put our trust in the Lord than in any man. Man is mortal whereas God is immortal. After offering his prayers, he said, “Uncle, let me trust in God. Why should I put my trust in a man?" The Scripture says it is better to put our trust in the Lord than in any man. Man is mortal whereas God is immortal.
Once I spoke to a wonderful medical graduate appearing for his final examinations. Following this, he also had to take up his practical examinations. On the one side, this student was very confident while on the other side he was diffident because the person who was going to examine him was known for his strict evaluation and toughness.
So I offered to help him. I said, “If somebody could talk to that man…” He gave me the name of a person who had a great influence upon this examiner and who could speak for him. Immediately I said, “O I know him very well, I can just ring him up straight away.” Then he said, “Wait a minute, let me pray and tell you." After offering his prayers, he said, “Uncle, let me trust in God. Why should I put my trust in a man?" I said, "You are a funny fellow! It's better to put your trust in the Lord always." Since he insisted saying, “Uncle I can still believe in God”, I left this matter to be handled by himself.
After some days he called me and told, “Uncle I have passed out with great credits. The tough man whom I had mentioned not only appreciated my answers but also said that he had placed me in the first position."
The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Let us put our full confidence upon the Lord Jesus Christ. He will lead us to sure victory.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I praise You for helping me to place all my trust in You alone. As the Psalmist says, "My hope is in You," O Lord, give me the grace to love You with all my strength, heart, soul and mind. I ask Your pardon for all the acts wherein I have looked for human help and forgotten to seek You. Help me to be always dependent on Your loving mercies this day.
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen.
