THE MIGHTY ONE BECAME WEAK!Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: Jesus Christ was oppressed and afflicted (Isaiah 53:7). But He did not open His mouth. He said, "Let all the sickness that comes on My children be cast upon Me and let them live." The Word of God says He became weak for us (II Corinthians 13:4). The Lord is clothed with majesty (Psalm 93:1). But when He came to this world He hung on the Cross putting on weakness.
The Word of God says, "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness" (Matthew 8:17). He whole-heartedly accepted our physical weakness because of His love for us. How much of long suffering He would have required for it.
Babur, a Mughal emperor was a very mighty man who ruled India. His son Humayun was sick and weak right from his infancy. At the age of sixteen, due to an attack of a fever, Humayun fell severely sick so much so that he was in his death-bed. Babur's spirit sank. He knelt beside his son's bed, wept and prayed saying, "God, please take my life. Let all the sickness, which is in my son's body come on me. Let me die but save my son." Accordingly, history states that Humayun survived while Babur died.
Our gracious Lord also did the same. "He was oppressed and afflicted" Isaiah 53:7. Even then He did not open His mouth. He said, "Let all the sickness that comes on My children be cast upon Me. Let Me die on the Cross as a weak person and My children live." He accepted the weaknesses of the created patiently on Him. He, with long suffering and meekness surrendered Himself wholly so that each man's weakness and suffering would come upon Him on the Cross. He accepted our weaknesses and made Himself weak. Hence, He sympathizes with and heals us for He knows our weaknesses, sicknesses and the agony of these.
Prayer
I praise and thank you for bearing all my infirmities and sorrows. Help me to confess everyday that I am healed always by Your stripes. Even today, remove every weakness that is found in my body and renew a right spirit within me. Keep me always in Your presence and grant me the anointing of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen. |
