THE HOLY ONE BECAME SIN!

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: Today when people talk ill about you unnecessarily and speak shameful things about you don't become depressed or weary! His meekness and long suffering will comfort you.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might "become the righteousness of God in Him." (II Corinthians 5:21).

"I am holy," says the Lord (I Peter 1:15,16). The seraphim who fly before Him day and night cried, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts" (Isaiah 6:1-3) and praised Him! Hence the Word of God says, "Holiness without which no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). Such a Holy God was manifested in the flesh in the name of Jesus (Romans 9:5). When He was moving in that likeness as a Holy God He became the likeness of sin completely for us.

In a particular city a disciplined man was living. He had a good job. One day suddenly the police arrested him. The reason was someone had informed the police that he was involved in a theft. He pleaded, "Sir, I didn't steal anywhere and I don't have any need to steal." They didn't accept it but arrested him by force. When the real culprit was identified within a few days, the police came to him and said, "Sir, somehow it was a mistake. Forgive us" and asked for pardon. They told him, "Please come, we ourselves will take you home in a respectful way." They took him lovingly and left him at his home. But the next day morning he did not get up. When the children broke open the door they were shocked. He had hanged himself. There was a letter by his side. "My dear children, forgive me! However I live an honest life the world will point at me and say, "He was involved in a theft case and went to prison. You'll get a bad name because of me. As a result of this you can't get married, you may not get a job and I can't bear this mental agony. I don't want to live in this world with the name as a 'thief'. I'm going. Forgive me" was the content of the letter.

My beloved ones! He committed suicide for being shut in the prison. But look at the Lord of lords whom many thousands of angels praise! He came down to this earth like a poor man who has nothing. He appeared as one who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29). The sin of every man in this world was cast upon Him.

"All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned every one to his own way. And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6).

How much of patience and meekness He must have needed at that time. That's why when He was hanging on the Cross He looked at those who accused Him and said, "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34). Like manner, today when people talk ill about you unnecessarily and speak shameful things about you don't become depressed or weary! His meekness and long suffering will comfort you. He will enable you to be filled with His long suffering!

Prayer

All mighty God,

My loving Father, I love you with my whole heart and above all things I offer to you all my thoughts and actions and ask you to bless me during this day. Help me so that I may always love and serve you and be eternally happy with you in heaven. Give me the grace of meekness and long suffering inherent in You to bear with talebearers and those who talk shameful things about me unnecessarily. In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen
