UNION WITH THE HOLY SPIRITSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: When people visit my home they must find it as a prayer house. I must be one who brings consolation and solace to everyone whom I come across. "....in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit." Ephesians 2:21-22
"... But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him." (I Corinthians 6:17)
According to these verses the Lord God wishes and expects us to live a life united with Him. "My Father and I are one" (John 10:30) says the Lord Jesus. He is God manifested in flesh! He is divine! His disciples declared, "and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ" (I John 1:3). Are we united with Jesus likewise? We have to grow to be a perfect man to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-15). When we are filled with the Holy Spirit and seek the Lord we become united with Him. The Lord God wished to offer us this great and unique experience.
In the Bible we read that Zachariah and Elizabeth were chosen by the Lord and were performing the Lord's ministry (Luke 1:6,13). But unfortunately they did not have the blessing of a baby of their own. But even in this state they were serving the Lord loyally and faithfully. Zachariah was diligently praying for his wife. The Lord God listened to their prayers and blessed them with a male baby when they were much advanced in age. As Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, the child was also filled with the Holy Spirit.
Elizabeth, the wife of Zachariah and Mary the mother of Jesus met each other. At that time, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Normally when a person meets another the natural tendency centres around gossiping about worthless matters. Most people are tale bearers, scandal mongers who relish in stabbing people at their backs. This habit results in strife and feuds among the families. Today let us take a resolution, "I will live a life filled with the Holy Spirit and be united with the Lord God. Not only my family people and myself alone; but everyone around me must be filled with the Holy Spirit. When people visit my home they must find it as a prayer house. I must be one who brings consolation and solace to everyone whom I come across."
In our family my father-in-law used to get up early in the morning at 6 a.m. and pray, "Oh Lord, come into our midst this day and bless us." We as a family followed this practice. Today, my husband, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren join together and pray filled with the Holy Spirit. The Lord descends and comes down among our midst. What a joy it is! I request you my dear ones to pray saying, "Lord transform my home into a house of prayer. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit and be united with the Lord and live a united peaceful life. We must live with your power and grace." Then the Lord will offer you perfect joy and peace. He will fulfil all your wishes and meet all your needs. He will make you shine in your family.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Please transform my home into a house of prayer. Fill me with the anointing of the Holy Spirit so that I may be a source of blessing today. Help me to bring joy, solace and consolation to all those whom I come across this day. Keep me happy throughout this day and I thank you for assuring me that I am never alone. In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen. |
