FAITH IN THE HOLY SPIRIT Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: When the Holy Spirit comes, the presence of Jesus Christ also comes over there. Miracles and wonders happen among the people. So let's honour the Holy Spirit more and more and offer Him the first place in our lives. When the Holy Spirit comes, the presence of Jesus Christ also comes over there. Miracles and wonders happen among the people. So let's honour the Holy Spirit more and more and offer Him the first place in our lives. "And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." Acts 1:4,5
said the Lord Jesus when He took leave of His apostles.
When we read completely and carefully the book of Acts of the apostles we can comprehend that the Holy Spirit was the source of their power for all their wonder filled activities.
On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit descended on them mightily (Acts 2:1-4). When the apostles prayed for the people, the Holy Spirit was poured upon them in great measure. When Philip laid his hands on the people, they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:17). When people listened to the preaching of Peter, the Holy Spirit came down upon everyone of them (Acts 10:44). When St. Paul was at Ephesus, he laid his hands on the people and the Holy Spirit descended on them. They spoke in tongues and prophesied (Acts 19:6). On various occasions the Holy Spirit spoke with the people (Acts 8:29; 10:19; 13:1-4; 15:29).
Who is this Holy Spirit?
"The Lord is the Spirit" (II Corinthians 3:17).
So when the Holy Spirit comes into a person the Lord Jesus Himself comes and dwells in him. That is why in John 14:20 Jesus says, "At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you."
So Jesus told His disciples that when the Holy Spirit comes into them they will feel that Jesus Christ Himself is coming into them. So the apostle Paul said, "It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me" (Galatians 2:20).
The more the elders, scribes and Pharisees hated and rejected Him, the more He entered the apostles in different ways and manifested His power (Acts 14:3, 19:11,12; Romans 15:18). Yes, when the Holy Spirit comes into us, miracles and wonders will happen abundantly in our lives.
Ever since I received the anointing of the Holy Spirit I had been working for the Lord's ministry for the past 41 years. But I have witnessed things in the ministry of my son Paul, which I myself could not experience in my own ministry. Recently Paul went to Australia to do the Lord's ministry. In Melbourne he ministered for two days. On those days the Lord worked through him in two miraculous ways. On the first day each one who came to the stage came with a mighty witness. When Paul raised his hands to pray for them, they were touched by the power of God and fell flat on the floor. They were so filled with the Holy Spirit that they could not get up. In the last day meeting the Lord inspired Paul to ask the people, "How many of you want to receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit?" Along with the believers many pastors and many who have already received the anointing stood up with the thirst and cried aloud for the anointing. The Lord filled each and everyone of them without any bias. Acts 2:17
The apostles had faith in the name of Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit because Jesus Himself has promised them that "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:8). Not only that, when the Holy Spirit comes, the presence of Jesus Christ also comes over there. Miracles and wonders happen among the people. So let's honour the Holy Spirit more and more and offer Him the first place in our lives. We will enjoy the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Gracious heavenly Father,
I praise and thank You for in the place where Your presence is felt there is liberty. Even today grant me the anointing of the Holy Spirit so that I may be a source of blessing to whomever I meet this day. Keep me cheerful and enable me to cheer up the lives of others. Abide with me and my dear ones this day and make us worthy of the plan which You have for us today. In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen |
