GOD WHO MULTIPLIES YOUR DESCENDANTS!Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The word of God cannot be bound at all. It goes everywhere and liberates people who are in tears and tribulations. This is the promise given to us by our Lord. "... I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed" (Genesis 26:4; Isaiah 44:3).
Joab the general looked at king David and blessed him saying, that the Lord would make His people a hundred times more than they are (I Chronicles 21:3). Likewise God multiplied the descendants of Isaac. When Isaac's son Jacob, his sons and their families went to Egypt they were seventy in number (Genesis 46:27, Exodus 1:5). But the Lord multiplied them as the stars of heaven (Deuteronomy 10:22). The more the Pharoah afflicted them the more they multiplied (Exodus 1:7, 12:20). So also we read that the Lord god multiplied Noah and his sons (Genesis 9:1,7).
"For you shall expand to the right and to the left" (Isaiah 54:3).
This promise is not meant just for the people of Israel but for us also (Galatians 4:28).
Not only that, during the days of the apostles the disciples multiplied (Acts 6:1). The churches multiplied spiritually (Acts 9:31). From this we comprehend that the Lord wishes us to multiply in our spiritual lives also.
Our Lord God is not one who blesses just our wealth and properties alone. He also multiplies our descendants like the stars of heaven. It is His holy wish that we must multiply and prosper. The Lord would exactly do it for us in this New Year.
"Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." (Psalm 126:5,6)
Only when we sow with tears we could harvest with joy. The following verses tell us how St. Paul sowed and how he performed his ministry. "Serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews." "For three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears" (Acts 20:19, 31).
Yes, St. Paul who ministered to the people with tears, also advised them day and night with tears on their activities. So also we sow the word of God in the hearts of our children. When we pray for the sick, through TV and radio programmes, and through the magazines too we sow the word of God in the hearts of countless people. The Lord tells us that these words of God that we sow shall not return void (Isaiah 55:1). This is what St. Paul says in the following verses.
"For which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained" (2 Timothy 2:9).
A servant of God once passed by a village in north India during the Christmas season. It was a backward region without any trace of modern advancements or transport facilities. But he was surprised to see many Christmas stars hanging from many houses. With great eagerness he made enquires. The villagers took him to the house of the village chief. He narrated a moving story to the servant of God. "Sir, my wife was suffering from cancer which was in an advanced stage. One day she fainted as she was not able to bear the pain. We took her to a nearby hospital with very low hope of her recovery. On the way we parked the cart in the shade of a tree to get some rest. My wife was lying in the cart like a dead body. At that moment some one walked by that way carrying a transistor. A song from 'Jesus Calls' programme broadcast was heard. We were excited by the consoling and encouraging words in the song and the melody with which it was sung Then we listened to the message that followed. We participated in the prayer by the man of God. I felt as if the prayer was supplicated for my wife in a special way. When the prayer was over, I began to shed tears even without my knowledge. "Who is this Jesus spoken about in the programme? Will He heal my wife?" were the questions that flashed in my heart.
I looked into the cart. What a surprise! My wife had got up and was sitting in the cart. She is alive even today. so we celebrate Christmas. All the villagers join together and are happy on this day." He narrated the story with much excitement!
May be today we are bound by many afflictions and face innumerable challenges. But the word of God cannot be bound at all. It goes everywhere and liberates people who are in tears and tribulations. So in this new year our descendants will multiply and we also will multiply and prosper in our spiritual lives. Whichever verse you believe in, hold on and pray, all will come to pass this year. Those promises will give you a hundred fold blessings. You will live as a blessed generation.
Prayer
Gracious Heavenly Father,
You are the Lord who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and multiplied their descendants like the stars of the heaven. In this New Year, help me to claim all the promises which You have given to me and increase the hope within me that I will receive everything according to Your plan through Jesus Christ Your son.
Amen. |
