FULLNESS IN MATERIAL BLESSINGS!

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: "The Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you."

"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Matthew 6:33

Material blessings will be bestowed upon us. This is precisely what the Lord wants to convey to you when He says, "All these things shall be added to you."

In Deuteronomy 28:11, we find the list of things that our good Lord is ever so eager to bestow on us. "The Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you."

In Deuteronomy 30:9 also we find such a list of material blessings the Lord is ready and willing to bestow on us. Genesis 24:1 refers to a recipient of such bounteous material blessings. Abraham is the one who receives a veritable shower of God's blessings. We find in Genesis 21:1, that "the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things." Here is what a servant of Abraham says about the goodness that his good master had got: "The Lord has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great and He has given him flocks, herds, silver, gold, camels, donkeys, male and female servants. Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old." Genesis 24:35,36

Why did the Lord bestow blessings on Abraham so bounteously? All because the old man is truthful and faithful in his heart. (Nehemiah 9:8). Abraham is a man who doesn't even know who Jehovah is. And yet the Lord appears before him and tells him:

"Get out of your country, from your kindred and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." Genesis 12:1-3

It is a wonderful promise from the Lord. Abraham never doubted the Lord but placed his trust in Him. He set out to do what the Lord had commanded. The Lord in return was very much pleased with him. In Isaiah 51:2, the Lord speaks highly of Abraham. Here is what he says:
"Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him."

The Lord wants to bless you similarly. He wants to bless you as much. For that, you have to be very faithful and loyal like Abraham.

Prayer

Our Father in Heaven,

I come to You on this day seeking Your blessings. Help me to be true, loyal and after Your own heart in all that I do. Help me to seek You with all my heart, soul and mind. I confess that Your blessings alone bring true happiness and You add no sorrow to it. Meet all my needs from the riches of Your glory and make me happy this day. In Jesus' matchless name I pray.

Amen.
