NEW CREATIONSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: It is the new creation of the mind that matters in this New Year. My dear Friend! It is such a joy to wish you a bright and prosperous New Year. May the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ be real to you throughout this New Year.
Every year we look forward towards receiving many new blessings on the New Year Day. Many resolutions are made only to be broken time and again. What could be done to make the New Year really look brighter?
The Bible says, “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation” (Galatians 6:15). It is the new creation of the mind that matters. Right attitude is the need of the hour.
Dale Carnegie, has written an episode to support this statement. It is as follows:
“There were two prisoners in a single cell at a particular jail. When the jailer came for the morning rounds, he wished both of them “Good Morning”. One of them cheerfully answered, “Good Morning Sir!” while the other man very slothfully and reluctantly said, “Good Morning Sir!” Then the jailer asked, “How did you spend the previous night?” The first man replied, “Sir! Through the bars of the jail, I looked up and saw the stars. I kept looking at them all through the night and they were very bright. I admired them and had a very sweet slumber.” The other man said, “Sir! There is a gutter nearby and the foul smell that emanated from it bothered me so much so that I did not have a wink of sleep the previous night.”
One man looked up while another looked down. One man saw the brighter part while the other saw the glum one. Through this anecdote we understand that attitude alone matters.
As we enter the New Year, let us have a change in our attitude. What is the way? “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
A friend of mine, told me the following incident. In a particular city, there lived a wealthy man who never bothered about God because He had everything in life that he could wish for. There also lived a priest who regularly visited him and kept constantly telling him about the need for God in his life. One evening the rich man took the priest in his boat and they were conversing for a long time. Finally, the priest told him, “Sir! Everything will look new if only you receive the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart.” The rich man replied, “Alright priest, what do you want me to do?” The priest told solemnly, “Bow down your head in prayer and repeat this prayer after me.” So saying, he made him say the sinner’s prayer. “Lord! Be merciful to me, a sinner” Even while he repeated these words something supernatural happened within him. Tears trickled down. Then he looked around and questioned, “When we came here, were these trees around? They are really wonderful isn’t it?” He looked up at the sky and exclaimed, “The beauty of the stars that are showing their sparkling faces are indescribable.” He kept saying, “Wonderful! Wonderful!” from then on. Then the priest smiled and said, “You are also a wonderful person now because your heart has been changed by the Lord Jesus Christ.”
My dear Friend! As you enter the new year, get this experience of receiving the Saviour into your heart. He will make you a new creature. You will be able to appreciate anything and everything around you and not grumble or murmur all the time.
Prayer
Loving Heavenly Father,
Let this new year be blessed with Your mighty presence. Enable me to surrender my life to you and always keep You first in my life. Grant me the desires of my heart and take over all my heartaches, burdens, worries and agonies. Bless me throughout this new year with Your divine peace. May all that I touch be blessed one hundred fold by You. Thank You for blessing me. I give all the glory to You.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen |
