God protects us from evil.

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: Dear friend, evil won’t touch you when God’s hand is around you. But until we are in this world, just as adversity overtook Job, we are also assailed by evil. Like God protected Job, He will protect you also.

The Bible clearly says that "the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” (1 John 5:19).

But God assures us that his hand would be with us and would protect us from evil. (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Jabez prayed to God to keep him from evil. And accordingly God protected him.

Satan was watching over Job and he went and complained to God: “Have you not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions and ncreased in the land. But now stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has and he will surely curse You to Your face”.

Dear friend, evil won’t touch you when God’s hand is around you. But until we are in this world, just as adversity overtook Job, we are also assailed by evil, resulting in the loss of our blessing. That’s why, Jesus has taught us to pray this way, “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6:13)

Years back, a man who was a performing artist as a buffon in a circus show got saved. After he surrendered his life to Jesus he developed a zeal to serve the Lord. Getting trained in a Bible College, he was ordained as a Pastor. But whenever he was preaching in the Church, he would stride up and down the stage, holding the Bible in one hand, jump up and down the dais and sometimes skip up on the table, to thrust his message into his congregation. It is an irony that his old profession got into the shoes of his new venture.

“among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature childern of wrath, just as the others” (Ephesians 2:3).

“Where do war and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?” (James 4:1).

That’s why “the blood of Christ shall purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14).

In the early days of my father’s ministry, both his lungs were damaged. He was vomitting blood and was almost to death. Doctors who examined him gave him just one month to survive.

In those days, my father used to preach on the streets, proclaiming the love of Jesus to passers –by. The devil seized this opportunity and standing by my father’s death bed, said: “Dhinakaran, I am deeply pained by your condition. You strolled over the streets, shamelessly witnessing Jesus and preaching Him. But Jesus has forsaken you. If you just give me one word that you will serve me, I will raise you and will change you into my prophet. I will make you do (magical) wonders, through that, riches will be heaped upon you, you will earn name and fame, you will live enjoying complete health.” A storm of conflict arose in my father’s mind. He was perplexed as to what to do.

“the Spirit always helps us in our weakness” (Romans 8:26).

When the Holy Spirit descends into us, His strength fills us. He will teach us all things and bring to remembrance all things, the Spirit of truth will guide us into all truth. (John 14:26).

The Holy Spirit, the Helper, opened my father’s eyes. He showed him a flash back of his venture towards suicide and the salvation he received through the intervention of the Cross bearing Jesus. When my dad saw the vision of the flowing blood of Jesus from the Cross, he turned towards Satan and said, “What you envisage for me sounds quite nice, but have your ever shed your blood for me? Only Jesus gave up His life for me and shed His blood for me, how can I deny Him.” Immediately, the devil fled bowing his head in shame.

When we minister unto the Lord and bring blessings to the people, the devil presents his dead works and evil, with the ulterior motive of forcing us to betray Christ. But on the other side, Lord Jesus opens our hearts to focus on the blood that He shed for us on the Cross. The Helper, the Holy Spirit, helps us not to go astray from Jesus. The blood of Jesus will purge away the dead works from us. The love of God will be poured out in our hearts blocking any evil or tribulation sent by the devil to separate us from the Lord.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

I praise and thank You for Your promise that You will be with me always. Father, please help me not to get dejected on seeing the worldly problems and circumstances. Please wipe away my tears and help me to have Your divine joy in my heart forever. Keep me protected from all evil. Help me not to get decieved by the plans of satan. Let not the sins ever take me away from You. In Jesus' mighty name I pray.

Amen.
