You Can Do It Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: Whatever hindrances occur in your family or in your friend's life, learn to share inspiring and loving words. Never discourage others with your own words. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. In the Old Testament, we see that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David and Jonathan loved him as his own soul (1 Samuel 18:3). Both Jonathan and David were linked up by their spirits. They were unified in their souls. Despite many tribulations, their love was steadfast. Extending the same analogy, when a husband and wife safeguard the unity of their spirits, they can live with perfect blessings and with no loss of peace. St. Paul poses this question: "Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps?" (2 Corinthians 12:18)
A Sport-loving couple, in a happy wedlock, lived in a particular country. The wife had an aptitude for running. So, the husband suggested that she might participate in long-distance running in the Olympics. Though she protested in the beginning, the husband persuaded her to do practice running. She trained herself very hard, running everyday, even during cold winter. The husband used to run along with her, as a pace-setter, when her legs faltered during the practice session, he used to run up to her and whisper in her ears, 'Honey, you can do it". Inspired by her husband's words of encouragement and love, she would start picking up speed again. Participating in the actual Olympic Marathon Race, she started running. After racing for a few miles, her legs became numb and she felt she could not run an inch further. In that moment of perplexity her husband's inspiring words, "Honey, you can do it" seemed to echo in her ears. That was all. A renewed vigour got hold of her and she continued to run with a new enthusiasm and won the race ultimately. Her triumph was due to the inspiring words of love of her husband.
My dear friend, whatever setbacks occur in your family, bear one another by sharing inspiring loving words. "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ"(Galatians 6:2). Surely your life will turn into a sweet one.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
Please grant me a heart and mind that would always offer a helping hand to all those who are in need. Let my words be always encouraging others. Fill my heart with Your love and compassion. Make me a channel of blessing and comfort to all those whom I meet in my life. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.
Amen. |
