Authority Of Jesus On Heaven And EarthSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: All authority on the earth and in heaven is in the hands of Jesus Christ. Great is the resurrected Lord Jesus who controls and rules the Heaven and the Universe. Nothing can happen in our life without His knowledge. This is an enlightening statement of the Resurrected Jesus, our dear Saviour. Lord Jesus rose up from the dead, conquering death. He first appeared to Mary Magdalene who had very eagerly gone to see His tomb, quite early in the morning. She agitatedly and joyfully ran to the disciples and gave them the great news: 'He is risen from the dead'; when she told them that He appeared to her, they were skeptical about it.' Jesus, to dispel their doubts and fear, approached them and proclaimed; 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth, He had said, "I am now in this world; but I am also in heaven. Because all authority in heaven and on earth, is in My hands.
The Bible clearly tells us, "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." (John 3:13)
Reading about Joseph in the Bible, we see Pharaoh telling him, "See, I have set you over all the Land of Egypt." So saying, he took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph's hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, "Bow the kneel." So he set him over all the land of Egypt." Pharaoh also said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh and without your consent no man lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt." (Genesis 41:41-44)
Later, Joseph toured all over the land of Egypt, which had brought out grains abundantly. He gathered a huge amount of grain, as 'the sand of the sea' and preserved the stock. According to Pharaoh's dream, after seven years of abundance, the next period of the lean seven years commenced in all countries (Genesis 41:15-30). It was a severe famine and the famished people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Then Pharaoh told the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, do' (Genesis 41:55). Pharaoh directed the people to Joseph because he had set Joseph over all the land of Egypt. Under the authority of Pharaoh Joseph, all the store houses and saved the people until the years of famine were over.
In the same way, on many occasions, we seek the help of highly placed people assuming that they have the power to lessen our sufferings. But our Heavenly Father tells us, "All authority on the earth and in heaven is in the hands of My Son, Jesus Christ. I (Father) have sent My Son as the Saviour of the world (1 John 4:14).
When Jesus was ministering in this world, once, two blind men followed Him, crying out, "Son of David, have mercy on us'. Jesus asked them, "Do you have the faith that I have the power and authority to open up your eyes?' They said, "Yes Lord' (Matthew 9:28). He opened their eyes immediately. Yes, He has all authority and power.
Yes, how great is the resurrected Lord Jesus who controls and rules the Heaven and the Universe. Our times are in His hand (Psalm 31:15). He has preset what event should happen at what time, in our lives. 'He has made everything beautiful in its time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Nothing can happen in our life without His knowledge. So, let us rejoice in the Lord in all circumstances.

Loving Heavenly Father,
You are Almighty, full of love and compassion. There is nothing hidden from You. You are the Lord who does everything perfectly in Your appointed time. Lord, You know all my worldly and spiritual needs. Graciously fulfill them in my life at Your appointed time. Help me never to doubt You. Grant me Your divine grace that I may grow strong in love, faith and hope. I believe that nothing can happen in my life without Your knowledge and will. I also believe that all authority is given in Your hands. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.
