The Lord Who Guides youSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord is aware of the thorn-infested, narrow, stony and trouble filled wild paths that you tread. He has prepared a wonderful way for you. Even if tribulations encounter you on the way, the gracious Lord will uphold you and guide you. Be not dismayed. "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go." (Isaiah 48:17)
"For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing." (Deuteronomy 2:7)
When Prophet Moses was leading the Israelites from the land of Egypt to the promised land of Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey, they have to walk through the wilderness. The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light. He divided the waters of the Red Sea and made a path on dry ground for them to walk through. He was with the Israelites continually for forty years and guided them by their hands.
When I was a small boy, I lived in a small hamlet. My aunt was living in an another hamlet which was about 10 miles away. When my school vacation began, she would come to take me to her home. My mother would give her some of my clothes. She would hold them in one hand, me with her other hand and take me through the thorn-infested path. The thorns would not leave you, even if you wear chappals. In the mid-way, I would sit down complaining to her of leg pain. She would buy me some sweet Palmyra juice and strengthened by the refreshing drink, I would walk a little further distance and draw back again. She would cajole me, pointing out the tall steeple of the church saying, "Son, our house is just near that Church, which is just a little away". She would guide me on to her house with a firm grip of my hand.
Dear friend, in our lives too, we have to pass through thorn-infested, narrow, stony and trouble filled wild paths. We should understand that our Saviour is quite aware of them. We have to tread through that path; there is no escape. But on the way, even if tribulations encounter us, He will say, "My child, I am the Lord who will uphold you and guide you through this way". We will reach the goal of triumph.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
You are the Lord who prepares the way. Graciously show me the way that You have prepared for me. Even though the way may be thorn infested, stony and very narrow, help me to trust You wholeheartedly and march forward courageously. Let Your protecting hand, embracing hand, guiding hand be with me always. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.
Amen. |
