God's WordSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: God's word has authority and grace. His word of authority gave healing to the sick; life to the dead; complete deliverance from every bondage. Everything was done perfectly and everything stood still when He commanded. "Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high"(Hebrews 1:3)
"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth." (Psalm 33:6,9)
"He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly." (Psalm 147:15)
There is no one to oppose the 'Word of Power' that darts like an arrow and 'runs very swiftly' from the mouth of our Lord who upholds all things. None can stop or prevent its power. What He says is the ultimate.
When we read about the Glory of creation in the Bible, we became aware of the cosmic dynamism of His 'word'. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Finding that the earth was without form, and void, God commanded, with His word of authority: "Let there be light" and there was light. In the same way, the heavens and the earth and all the host of them were brought into existence by the power of His word (Genesis 1st Chapter).
"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)
The Prophet Isaiah, in this verse, has expounded the sovereign power of the 'Word' that proceeds from the mouth of God. He (the Lord) sent His 'word' and healed them from their destructions (Psalm 107:20).
"He stirs up the sea with His power" (Job 26:12). When 'a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat' He rebuked the wind and commanded the sea, 'Peace, be still'. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm' (Mark 4:37,39).
He commanded the unclean spirits with authority and power (Luke 4:36). They trembled and fled. Moreover He gave the same authority and power to Hi disciples (Matthew 10:19).
"Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands." (Acts 14:3)
"Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them." (Acts 19:11,12)
My dear friend, let us appeal to the Son of God, Jesus, "Lord, please tell us one word. Your word is packed with authority. You are controlling and ruling the whole Universe with Your powerful word. Take charge of our lives too. Transmit perfect health into our weakened sick bodies through Your authoritative words; thereby perform signs and miracles in our lives, glorifying Your name." He will respond immediately.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
You are the Almighty God. Have mercy on me. I acknowledge that Your word is filled with authority. You are controlling and ruling the entire Universe with Your mighty words. Take charge of my entire life. Transmit perfect health into my weakened body. Grant me the grace that Your mighty signs and miracles be seen in my life. Let Your mighty name be glorified always. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.
