Life In The Soul

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: Jesus Christ, came to this world, surrendered Himself to death and sacrificed His life on the cross of Calvary to liberate, to sanctify, to cleanse, to release and to give life to our souls.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Yes, dear ones, sin causes death in our soul many times. What is the way out?

"Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, as do stripes the inner depths of the heart." (Proverbs 20:30)

If a man has to be freed from the grip of sin, which corrupts the soul and administers death, and if his soul has to be sanctified, the inner depths of his heart should receive blows and stripes that hurt.

If every man receives hurtful blows, his soul and body will die, out of agony; he can no longer live in this world. That is why, the Holy Son of God, Jesus Christ, came into this world, owned the sins of the people, surrendered Himself to death and sacrificed His own life on the cross of Calvary to liberate them from their sinful deeds, to sanctify them, to cleanse them thoroughly, to release their souls from death and to give life to their souls.

Mahatma Gandhi during his life time, established and lived in, an ashram at Sabarmati. One day the news about some young men of that village committing acts of adultery reached Gandhiji. As he made further enquiries, none came forward to confess. So Mahatma Gandhi told the young men, "I am not going to punish any of you. Let me punish myself." He commenced a fast unto death and stopped all his activities of relaxation. The young men in question felt severe remorse and were broken-hearted. They ran to Gandhi fell at his feet and confessed to him, "Sir, you should not be sacrificed for our sin; your love shatters our hearts; we are the guilty ones; please just tell us that you forgive us" They repented and reformed themselves.

Our gracious Lord Jesus Christ also submitted His physical body to be smashed on the Cross, so that people of this world do not sustain wounds in their soul. As we read in Matthew 26:67, "Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands. That is not at all. He was scourged with thongs by the Roman soldiers (Matthew 27:26).

The iron-studded thongs tore away His hallowed flesh. They nailed the blameless Holy Son on the cross. He patiently endured all these travails. Water and blood gushed out of His holy body, just to liberate our soul from death and give 'life' to it. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7).So when we cry out to Him, "O, Lord, I fully believe that you were stricken for us. Kindly wash me clean with Your blood; make me holy and give life to my soul," He will definitely cleanse our sins away, sanctify us and transform us into His children. Our souls will be deferred from death or death-sentence, our lives will be over-whelmingly filled with His 'life'.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You are the loving Lord who gave Your precious life for my sake. You were broken for my sins and bruised for my iniquities. Please forgive me. Cleanse me clean by Your precious blood and make me holy. Help me not to lose my soul on any account. Grant a new life to my soul. Protect me from all condemnation and fill my life with Your 'Life'. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.

Amen.
