Fullness of Wisdom

Gist: God is not partial. He is eagerly waiting to pour His Holy Spirit on you, if you open your heart and ask Him. He will positively shower His Spirit on you. He will give you abundant and complete wisdom necessary for your worldly life and spiritual life.

Whenever the Exam season arrives, hundreds of students contact the Jesus Calls Prayer Tower through the phone, every day. Hundreds of letters and emails will pile up there. Usually the issue will be: "Sir, I lack wisdom, no memory power; I forgot whatever I learn. Kindly pray to God to give me wisdom. I want to score creditable marks to join the medical or Engineering College." Today, my dear friend, we are going to learn more about how do we acquire God's wisdom. The Bible says that God wants to give you His divine wisdom more than abundantly.

Once a preacher narrated the following funny anecdote: A visiting Inspector of schools entered a classroom as lessons were going on. He asked the students, 'Dear boys, who wrote Thirukkural?' One boy stood up and answered, without a moment's thought: 'Sir, it was written by Kambar!' (a famous poet) The Inspector was bamboozled. Wondering whether Kambar has written Thirukkural, he asked the teacher, 'what's this? Have you not taught your students properly?' You know what the teacher said, "Sir, I have taught them repeatedly that the author of 'Thirukkural' was Bharathiyar (Quite another person); they do not learn aright.' The shocked Inspector called the Head Master and questioned him about the funny answers; he capped the whole ludicrous situation by replying, "Sir, I have often been drilling into them the fact that 'Thirukkural' was written by Bharathi Dasan (Yet another poet) and not by Bharathiyar. But, neither the teachers the teachers nor the students listen to me. The Inspector was flabbergasted. He left the classroom, proudly, telling the boys that Thirukkural was written by Avvaiyar (a poetess). What should we think of such people who pretend that they are know - alls, when they do not know an ordinary fact, which the whole world knows-Thirukkural a famous Tamil classic, authored by Thiruvalluvar?

What a great pity? Though this is only an imaginary story, does it not signify that the worldly wisdom is of much importance to every one and that we cannot live in this world without it. That is why God is ever ready to grant us this earthly wisdom with abundant fullness. On the other hand, heavenly spiritual wisdom is also required for us. "That you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge" (1 Corinthians 1:5). According to this verse, the ultra natural or supernatural wisdom given by God gives us a perfect and complete perception of our heavenly Father. "In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). This verse informs us that Christ had wisdom and knowledge to the full.

Prophet Isaiah elucidates: "The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord"(Isaiah 11:2). We need the Spirit of God to comprehend matters related to the soul and God. The Spirit of God was fully on Jesus Christ. And our gracious Lord says, 'Let Me pour this full wisdom and knowledge that is in Me, on every one deficient in earthly wisdom and heavenly wisdom.'

"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:13)

I know one who was a horrible sorcerer- a black magician. It is reported that one day Jesus appeared before him and said, "You have captured many and are keeping them on your side. From today, you are my captive." That very day, there was a transformation in his life. He sought a pastor and requested him, 'Sir, please tell me about Jesus Christ.' The pastor explained to him, in detail the limitless love of Jesus. One day, when he was praying alone, this living God showered on him His Holy Spirit abundantly. He started reading the Bible intently. Understanding God's ways and spiritual mysteries, he grew in Christ'. Today the magician is doing the Lord's ministry powerfully.

My dear friend, God is not partial. He is eagerly waiting to pour His Holy Spirit on all of us. We should open our hearts and pray. He will positively shower His Spirit on you. He will give you abundant and complete wisdom necessary for your worldly life and spiritual life.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You know the difficulties I am facing in my studies. I am in a helpless state. I come to You seeking Your help and guidance. Be with me and give me an understanding heart so that I can grasp my lessons and memorise them. Lord! it is nothing for You to help a weak person! My mind is too weak and I have a very poor memory power. I plead with You to strengthen my memory power and grant me Your divine wisdom in abundance so that I write my exams with confidence. Let Your power engulf me Lord and let every unwanted fear flee from me. Send me help from above and make me a success in life. I know You'll do it because Your love for me is incomparable. Thanks for listening to me. In Jesus' name, I pray.

Amen.
