You Will Be ComfortedSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: Look upon Lord Jesus and ask Him unrelentingly to fill you with the Holy Spirit, He will certainly comfort you, satisfying you with the oil of joy. He will fill you with the Holy Spirit. Blessed are you who mourn today. You will definitely be comforted. The Bible declares that Jesus came into this world to give us the oil of joy for mourning (Isaiah 61:3).
Dear friend, when the Holy Spirit fills us, we 'rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory' (1 Peter 1:8). He gives us the 'oil of joy' and comforts us, in the place of our day-to-day sorrow, grief and mourning.
In 1995, I was in a similar desperate position. Poverty, disease and lack of peace made me run towards the railway to commit suicide. On the way, by God's intervention, I happened to be stopped by my uncle who gave me an exposition about our gracious Lord Jesus. My life was transformed. I began to read the Bible intensely. One day as I was reading the Scripture, my eyes focussed upon Acts 10:38, "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." From that day, for 7 years, I struggled in prayer asking God, "O Lord, fill me also with Your Holy Spirit." One day, when we were having our family prayer along with some relatives, the Holy Spirit came down and the whole room was filled by His presence; a light shone from the skies. A joy inexpressible sprang up in my mind. He filled me with the Holy Spirit immeasurably. From that day I am walking along with Him for more than 48 years. He comforts me during times of my mourning, filling me with the oil of joy.
My dear friend, Jesus came into this world only to give each one, this oil of joy. He tasted 'death for everyone' (Hebrews2:9). During times of sorrow and bereavement, look upon Him and ask Him unrelentingly, "O, Lord, fill me also with the Holy Spirit" He will certainly comfort you, filling you with the oil of joy. Will save you from sin and give you peace and heal your illness. Clasp you and console you while you death. Will exhilarate you, filling you with the Holy Spirit. Blessed are you who mourn today. You will definitely be comforted.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
You are my dear father and I am Your child. Just like a child who asks its father for its need, I too ask You, dear father, to fill me with Your Holy Spirit. When I undergo through various trials and tribulations, comfort and fill me with the oil of joy. Fill me with Your peace and joy. In Jesus' marvellous name, I pray.
