Built Up In Jesus

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: Everyday, much travail, tribulations and tricky problems assail us repeatedly. Those who speak to God and are united with Him shall not lack any good thing. The Living words of God are sweeter than honey.

"As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving" (Colossians 2:6,7). This verse describes an intensely deep experience." For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ." (1 Corinthians 10:4).

My dear friend, when you are the house that is built on the Rock of Christ, no circumstances whatever - be it a storm or tempestuous rain - can blow you off.

"His (the righteous man's) delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper." (Psalm 1:2,3)

If the husband or the wife delights in the Bible and meditates upon it night and day, blessings will be granted to the family.

My husband reads the Bible, meditates and prays for hours together. This habit of his, fascinated me. I was able to transform my life only through his example. The first thing that I learnt from him was to read through the Bible thoroughly, sitting alone in a corner. My dear friend, the Bible is full of God's words. "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63) "For the word of God is living and powerful" (Hebrews 4:12). Those living words started talking to me. Only those who have personally relished them know that they are sweeter than honey. When we read the Bible repeatedly and taste it through our own experience, blessings will multiply in our life, without our own knowledge.

Once a relative of my husband stayed in our house for a while to attend to his work. Seeing that both of us were engaged in reading the Bible, he said to me, "From early in the morning you start reading this Bible. Anything very special in it?" I explained to him the greatness of Jesus. Agreeing to read the Bible regularly he started to do it immediately. The Bible began to galvanize him, who had no previous knowledge of Christ at all. Finally he surrendered his heart to the Lord.

My dear friend, the more you read the Bible, respecting and honouring it, the more God will dwell in you. Your family also will be built up. The Apostle John says, "That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:3).

Are you, as a family, a prepared to give testimony declaring that we are united with each other, leading an exemplary life and that you have become one with Jesus?

At the outset of his first epistle, Apostle John vouches, "We have heard him. We have seen Him with our eyes. We have looked upon Him. We have touched Him with our hands." Today, you too, through your intense reading of the Bible and life of ceaseless prayer can see Him, touch Him and live united with Him.

"Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given." (1 John 3:24)

We read about an ideal virtuous wife, "She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants" (Proverbs 31:15). Likewise, let us learn to rise up early in the morning and seek the Lord.

The experience I enjoyed much in my life is to get up early in the morning before all others and to tell my affairs to the Lord. Many mothers are so weak-minded and care-ridden that they are unable to bear a minor mishap or disease to their children. The reason is that they have no link with God.

My dear friends, if your life should become a transformed one everyday, make an attempt to lead a life with God in the early morning. After my morning contact with God, I have always found a breeze in of a divine peace and joy. At the end of the day, I would ruminate over how the Lord has guided me so wonderfully on that day and thank Him. Everyday, much travail, tribulations and tricky problems assail us repeatedly quite suddenly. But children who speak to God and are united with Him shall not lack any good thing. "The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing" (Psalm 34:10). So, let us lead a life unified with God - a life which seeks God on all occasions; a lift that thanks God before dining, prays before setting out from home, tries to talk to Him even while doing business outside. What a sweet life it is! Then God's presence will be with you always and your families will be transformed into blessed ones.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

Help me to seek You all through my life. Change my life in such a way that it may always please You. Let Your presence be always with me and on my families and make me and my family a blessed Your presence be always with me and on my families and make me and my family a blessed one. Let Your words be my daily bread and satisfy my spiritual and worldly hunger. Enable me to obey Your word today and always. In Jesus' mighty name I pray.

Amen.
