The Lord Will Abide With You

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: The heavens and the earth belong to God.You are His off spring. He will abide with you and transform all the disastrous things in your lives into beneficial circumstances and lead you along the right and righteous path.

A man of God used to plead with God, "O Lord, You must come with me wherever I go; at the same time, You must protect my family I am leaving behind."

Can God do both things?

"Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?" says the Lord; "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" says the Lord." (Jeremiah 23:24)

There is no place on earth, where God has not interpenetrated. We live in Him, 'for in Him we live and move and have our being." Acts 17:28

On 21st May 1986, in a grisly car accident, my 17-year-old loving daughter, Angel lost her life. Our hearts were shattered. For about 6 weeks, we were lamenting. Our faith was also broken. In the month of July, we had to go to Erode to preach in a Prayer Meeting, which had already been arranged. Severely, tormenting thoughts emerged in our minds, "What are we going to preach? How are we going to tell the people that Jesus is ever good? Will the anointment of the Holy Spirit be manifested in my message? In the prayer session at the end will the Holy Spirit descend upon me? Will miracles happen?" These questions put me in great dismay. Despite all this, when we came out of our home, ready to start, our house cook, an elderly gentleman towards us, stopped us and prayed weeping with folded hands, "Lord Jesus, let not any more harm come to 'Iyah's (Master's) family; bring all of them back safely. His supplication touched us deeply. A hope that the old man's prayer would be heeded and responded by our Lord surged in our hearts. We left home. The time for the message ticked in. Again a suspicion as to whether the gifts of God would work in me raised its head and I felt a choking in my throat. I got up and went to the rostrum. In spite of my persistent prayers, I could not feel the presence of God; it looked as though the Lord had hidden His face from me, but there were thousands and thousands of people to witness how I was going to preach in the face of the colossal calamity.

I managed to complete my message somehow and started my prayer with great anxiety. Suddenly Jesus appeared before me; His compassion overflowed in my heart. When I looked at the vast mass of people through my spiritual eyes, I was able to understand the pain and agony in everyone's heart. Jesus pointed out a young man and said, "His name is Felix. He has come here, heart broken, for a particular reason; call his name." Obeying His command I called the boy. Similarly, I called various names on His command, revealed their problems and prayed for them. When the prayer was over, a young man came running to the dais and told me, "Iyah, my name is Felix. My life was miserable as you described it; if the Lord had not called me and consoled me, through you, I would have committed suicide today." When he emotionally described his feelings in the presence of the huge crowd, all doubts in my mind vanished in a jiffy. A fresh hope that 'Jesus is with Me' was born in my mind.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

True to this Biblical verse, through the whole of this New Year, the Lord will transform all the disastrous things in our lives into beneficial circumstances and lead us along the right and righteous path as we love Him dearly.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You are the same unchanging God, for whom all things are possible. Please take away the unbelief from my heart. Anoint me with Your Holy Spirit and give me a brave heart that will never doubt you at any situation in my life. Help me to love You with all my heart, mind and soul and lead me in the right and righteous path today and always. In Jesus' mighty name I pray.

Amen.
