The Holy LightSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: Jesus will forgive all your sins and defects, cleanse you with His blood and make you a new person. He will focus His light of Holiness on you and guide you to lead a holy life. In Mark 14:3-9, Luke 7:37-50, we read about a woman living in sin. Everyone in that place knew that she was a sinful woman. One day, when she came to know that Lord Jesus was coming into the city, she got the idea that she could be made holy. She ran up to Lord Jesus, shed tears of repentance at His feet, wiped them with her hair, kissed His feet and applied the oil of spikenard. He was not averse to her action. He forgave her sins and sent her away in peace and joy. Moreover, He approved her deed by commenting, "Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her." (Mark 14:9).
Friend, Lord Jesus showered His love to the woman trapped in the darkness of sin, forgave her sins, removed the darkness from her life and made His holy light shine in her. The same Jesus is still alive. He is eagerly waiting to forgive their sins, abolish your darkness too and change you into His own child.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
Once, there was a young woman who lived in sin, similar to the woman in the Bible, we have just talked about. Never heeding to anyone's advice, she was wallowing in sin quite inconsiderably. A horrible skin disease gripped her. Everyone hated her and she was isolated. Solitude and disease were her only companions. Only then she began to ponder over the darkness of disease stemming from her life of sin and the pathetic condition of her body. At this juncture her friend who had been praying for her for a long time, had been waiting for a suitable opportunity, met her and explained to her how Jesus had sacrificed Himself on the cross for her sins. Only then the sad girl realised that she was alone responsible for her disease. According to her friend's suggestion, she knelt down and prayed, "Lord, I have been swallowing sin as water. Show mercy to me, a sinner. You are merciful and full of grace. Please grant me freedom from this life of sin".
"Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more." (Romans 5:20)
In conformity with this verse, the Lord sent His grace to cover her and forgave her sins. He made her a new creation. Peace settled on her. The darkness of disease was removed and light illuminating her life and she too became a child of God.
Dear friend, just examine your lives. Is your conscience clear? Does holiness mark your lives? Confess all your deficiencies to the Lord. Jesus, who forgives sins and loves the sinners, will forgive all your sins and defects, cleanse you with His blood and make you a new person. He will focus His light of Holiness on you and guide you to lead a holy life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Forgive all my shortcomings and sins. Wash me clean with Your precious blood. Make me a new person. Relieve me from the darkness of sin. Fill me with Your light of holiness. Help me to lead a life that is pleasing at Your sight. Teach me to listen to my conscience and act accordingly. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.
Amen. |
