Key to Peace

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: We are living in a peaceless world. Our lives revolve around various trials and tribulations. World peace and peace of every country lies on the peace and joy of every individual. The true peace that Christ offers is the permanent solution.

The Holy Bible says that the Lord will bless His people with peace (Psalm 29:11). When the Lord Jesus Christ resides with you in your homes, when He is the head of your family, He will take upon the entire responsibility of your home and will grant you His incomparable heavenly peace.

Dear friend, if you have not so far received the peace of God in your life, ask the Lord Jesus to come and reside with you in your home. He will gladly come into your life and dispel all darkness from your home and will grant you His everlasting peace, because He is the 'Prince of Peace' (Isaiah 9:6; Micah 5:5).

In a place called Shunem, there was a lady of great repute. She used to receive Elisha, the man of God in her house whenever he passed that way (2 Kings 4:8). The Lord desired to bless her family through Elisha. She was childless. Elisha prayed for her and told her that in a year she would embrace a son. Accordingly, she bore a son and a great peace and joy reigned in her home. When the Shunammite was living happily with her son, a great blow struck her. One day, the boy complained of a strange headache and within a few hours he died. The poor mother was totally helpless. But this God-fearing mother, instead of making much noise and putting up a scene, she rushed to Elisha who was then at Mount Carmel. She held his feet and cried aloud. Prophet Elisha understood what had happened. He arose and followed her home to find the boy lying dead on the cot. He prayed fervently for the child to regain life and in answer to his prayer, the Lord raised the boy alive.

It was all because of the steadfast faith and trust of the mother in the Lord. She sought Him through the man of God, Elisha and held to the Lord. She received the blessing that she desired. The peace of God continued to fill her and her home.

Once, we had been to a particular city in the United States of America. We attended a service in a Church. It was usual for the wife of that Church's Pastor to collect the prayer requests from the members of the congregation, read aloud the most pressing ones during the service and pray over them. That day, she received a prayer request from a casual visitor to the Church. He was a drunkard who would often thrash his wife for no reason. That day, in a fit of anger, he had chased her out of the house. A certain friend of his brought him to the Church and the message he heard there broke his heart into smithereens. He surrendered his entire life to God. In his prayer request, he had written, "Wherever my wife may be, the Lord should bring her back and unite us to live a happy life together." As the Pastor's wife read it, the entire congregation with oneness of heart and mind prayed for him. She then called him to the front. He walked up and stood before the congregation. At the same time, his wife who had been unexpectedly brought by someone to the same Church service sat in a corner of the Church. When she saw her husband, she ran towards him crying, "Here I am! I want to live happily with my husband!" They embraced each other and their family was rebuilt. God works such wonders and miracles in Churches very often.

Dear friend, even today, Lord Jesus is anxiously waiting to perform a similar miracle for you. Is your family life broken and are you sinking in despair? Have the unbearable problems in your family disturbed your mind? Do not be dismayed! Honour the men of God like Elisha. Participate willingly in Church activities. Make known your requests in the presence of God. Like devout Hannah, pour out your heart at the Lord's gracious feet. He will surely resolve all your problems and fill you with His lasting and unchanging presence. Christ will surely rebuild your broken family life and the peace of God will fill your heart and your home.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You are filled with love, grace and compassion. Come into my home and remove all my problems. Grant me Your peace, joy and stability of heart and mind. Build up my broken home into a new home filled with Your love and compassion. You be the head of my family and take control over everything in my home. Give me a heart to honour Your servants and Your ministry and through that, earn blessings in my life. I give you all the glory and make this prayer through Christ, my Lord.

Amen.
