Call Upon HimSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: Jesus is anxiously waiting to open your spiritual eyes, to dispel the darkness. Call upon Him in humility. He will grant you all the grace you need and make you excel and rejoice! In the Holy Bible, we read about a very pathetic story of a blind man named Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52). All that he knew was only darkness, light was something strange and new to him. Some members of his family would help him made him sit in a particular place. He would then plead with the passers-by to pity him and give their alms. One day while he sat as usual, he somehow sensed that Jesus was coming that way. Probably he heard people shouting, "Hail Jesus! Jesus is coming!" His heart started to beat fast. He asked the bystanders, "Is it Jesus-the Miracle-Maker who healed the leper is coming?" He would have been assured, "Yes! It is the same Jesus who is coming." He then cried out,"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" (Mark 10:47). Many warned him to be quiet. They silenced him, but the more they tried to silence him, the louder he cried. The Bible says that Jesus, who heard his cry, 'stood still.' His cry would not allow Him to walk one step further. He commanded him to be called. The disciple told Bartimaeus, "So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you" (Mark 10:49). He then threw aside his garment, rose and came to Jesus, who in great compassion asked him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight" (Mark 10:50). The compassion of Christ opened the blind man's eyes. God grants His grace to all who call upon Him.
Every month there is a special service for the healing is held in the Evangeline Auditorium of Karunya Institute of Technology. People from all over India participate in it. Students of "Karunya" pray for everyone who comes, applying the prayed-over oil. Once a woman who had lost the sight of both eyes had them opened miraculously! What a great joy it was!
As said in Daniel 11:32, "The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits," Jesus is desirous of performing greater miracles than this. Cry out to Him exactly as the blind man did. He will listen to your prayers and ask you, "What is it you want Me to do for you?" Tell Him then with trust and confidences all that you want and are in need of. He will then tell you, "My child, your faith has made you well. Go your way in peace!" He will grant you proficiency in all that you asked for in your studies, business, job and everywhere and everthing you desired. Further, He will enable you to score high marks in your studies and make you rejoice forever.
A sister once told me very happily, "Brother! I sought your prayers that I should anyhow pass my examination. You too prayed for me with a great burden. I passed only in second class; but I felt happy and proud to have at least passed the examination. One day my Principal called me and said, 'You passed only in II class. But in certain subjects you have come first in the entire State and we are going to award you a prize'."
Jesus Christ is wonderful! He is marvellous! He grants you more than what you need or desire! Jesus who opened the eyes of the blind Bartimaeus is alive even today!
My dear friend, Jesus is anxiously waiting to open your spiritual eyes, to dispel the darkness of ignorance and let in the light of knowledge! Wait for the Lord! Fear Him and call Him in humility! He will grant you all the grace you need and make you excel and rejoice!
Prayer
Most gracious Heavenly Father,
Have compassion on me! Grant me Your wisdom. Help me in my studies, my job and in my life. Open the spiritual eyes of mine and let me witness miracles after miracles more than I desire from You. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Amen. |
