Wisdom in Christ

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fear the Lord and become eligible to receive His divine wisdom and all the heavenly treasures added to it.

God's grace shall be upon them that fear Him. His grace shall abound upon them as high as the heavens are above the earth. When for the first time astronauts raced towards the moon, people gasped in wonder, "How many million miles!" The rocket was speeding at the rate of several thousands of miles per second. After journeying through space for three and a half days, they landed on the moon. But heaven is farther still. The grace that God gives His children who fear Him is still greater.

One day a boy went into a forest and caught an eaglet. Putting it in his pocket, he walked so happily, when a certain giant confronted him and asked, "Boy! Who are you? What brought you here?" The boy answered him without the least hesitation, "Hey! Do not judge by appearance. I may look small, but am much stronger than you!" The giant roared in fury, "What do you say, you puny little dwarf?" He took a stone and flung it into the sky, saying, "See how far it goes!" The stone went high up and came down with great speed. The boy laughed at it derisively. The giant asked him furiously why he laughed. The boy replied, "The stone which you threw up came down at last. Now, see how I throw something that will keep going higher and higher and will never come down!" He took the eaglet out and threw it up. It went soaring high and was lost from sight. The giant did not notice that it was an eaglet. He fell prostrate at the boy's feet, saying "O boy! You are my boss!"

The Lord says, "Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?" (Isaiah 66:1; Acts 7:49). So great is God and equally great is His grace. Fear not! Of the many graces that He gives to them that fear Him, one of them is wisdom.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever." (Proverbs 1:7,9:10; Psalm 111:10)

Once an atheist, who claimed that there was no God, laid fast asleep under a banyan tree. A banyan fruit dropped right on his head. He woke up, saying: "So small a fruit for so huge a tree!" But then he wondered, "If only God had made the fruit as big as a coconut, my head would have split into two. How great is His wisdom!" Only then he came back to his senses.

My dear friend, to you who fear God, He is going to grant His wisdom today.

"He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name" (Psalm 147:4). So great is our God!

Some children come and ask me, "Uncle! How do you memorize so many verses of the Bible?" Do you know why they compliment me so much? They think that if they could find out the strategy, they can easily memorize all the formulae they have to learn! But dear friend, there is no shortcut. My wisdom comes from Christ. He will give it to you too.

"In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:3)

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."(James 1:5)

Christ Himself will grant you His wisdom and exalt you to great heights.

Prayer:

Most gracious Heavenly Father,

I adore You for being so gracious in my life thus far. Grant me more grace to humble myself before You and observe Your greatness and understand Your wisdom. You are great and mighty than everything in the world and above. Grant me Your wisdom and understanding so that I can excel in all that I do. In Jesus' name, I pray.

Amen.
