Acceptable Meditation

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: God transforms the lives of those who wade through dreary wastelands in tears and travails, into eternal springs and gladdens them with ever-new blessings.

The mind plays the key role in everyone's life. If your mind is filled with good and pleasing thoughts and your heart meditates on those things that are expected of you by God, you become eligible to receive God's blessings in abundance. Only when you keep your mind clean and pure, you can receive the blessings from God in great measure.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer" (Psalm 19:14). This is how King David prayed all the time, as he wanted to live the way God wanted him to live, not as he wanted to live. So, success came searching him.

The Bible says, "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2). So my dear friend, as the Word of God says, set your mind on things above not on worldly things. God performs wonders to those who look up to Him for everything and in everything.

God pours out His abundant blessings on all those who seek Him. Our Lord says, "I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring" (Isaiah 44:3). Our God is the One, who turns a wilderness into pools of water and dry land into water springs (Psalm 107:35). "God of Jacob turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters" (Psalm 114:8). This incident reveals the truth that it is easy for God to turn the rock into a pool of water and the flint into a fountain of waters.

The Bible contains many real life incidents on how God quenched the thirst of His children when they were thirsty and weak, without the strength to go on. When the people of Israel wandered in the desert with no water to drink, He made water spring out of a rock in Horeb. When Hagar cried to God, as her son was about to die of thirst, He opened a well in the wilderness. When Samson cried out to God in extreme thirst, "God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out, and he drank; and his spirit returned, and he revived." (Judges 15:19)

"The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water" (Isaiah 35:7). Likewise, God transforms the lives of those who wade through dreary wastelands in tears and travails, into eternal springs and gladdens them with ever-new blessings.

Dear friend, do not look down brooding over the sorrows and burdens, the failures and disappointments in life. Lift up your eyes and look upon God; you can live here on earth in boundless joy granted by Him. Even amidst tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril and sword you can live as more than conquerors through the grace and power of our Lord Jesus (Romans 8:35,37).

Prayer:

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Many a time, the cares of the world make me dull and look down to the earth.I forget to look up to You for help, and keep straining my brain to find out ways to come out of my problems. Please take away all the unwanted thoughts from my minds and let the meditation of my mind and the words of my mouth be ever acceptable before Your eyes. In Jesus' mighty name I pray.

Amen.
