Faith in ActionSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: Sweet indeed is the life that is dependant on God. If you believe in the Lord and are strengthened by the Lord, the Lord will be with you and will render His counsel. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord." (Jeremiah 17:7) "Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him." (Psalm 2:12)
How much do we have a hold on the Lord in our lives? Dear friend, sweet indeed, is the life that is dependant on God. If we read about the life of Esther, we can come across this important aspect.
"Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!" (Esther 4:16)
Even though Esther was the queen, she did not say straightaway that she would go and see the King. But instead, she sought the face of God. She did not say that she and her maids would forsake food once in a day, but for three days, night and day. She held on to the Lord completely and fasted.
Esther was a humble woman. She was doubtful of the circumstances. The life of all the Jews was in her hands. Mordecai said, "Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" She did not believe in her strength, but believed in the Lord.
"I will lift up my eyes to the hills; from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1,2)
She believed and sought the Lord according to the above verse. Then she went to the King bravely. She received great blessings.
Secondly, Esther asked for wisdom in the Lord's presence. Not only that, she asked for counsel also.
Look at the life of Solomon. He asked for a heart of wisdom to lead the people. He did not ask for gold or silver, but an 'understanding heart', and that pleased the Lord (1 Kings 3:9,10). But the Lord added even those blessings that he did not ask - gold, riches and honour. The same Lord who is mighty enough to do the same thing for you today, is in our midst. He is the One who gave wisdom to Solomon and Esther. He will give it to you too.
Dear friend, this grace is given to those who are anointed by the Holy Spirit and strengthened by the Lord. If you believe in the Lord and are strengthened by the Lord, the Lord will be with you and will render His counsel.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
You gave wisdom and counsel to Esther and to King Solomon. Father, the Bible says that You are an impartial God and that everyone who asks from You receives. Holy Father, I pray to You for wisdom and knowledge. Give me Your presence whenever I come in prayer before Your throne. Grant me Your grace all through my life to live a life pleasing to You. I pray, in Jesus' matchless name.
Amen. |
