Manifestation of Love

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: God loves us so much that He took the form of a Man and came to this world in the name of 'Jesus'. He bore our sicknesses and the troubles of the ungrateful people, all for our sake.

God loves us so much that He took the form of a Man and came to this world in the name of 'Jesus' (Luke 1:31,35). Gabriel, the angel of the Lord, appeared to Mary in a vision and said, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God."

Though the God of gods is gracious and mighty, He humbled himself, took the form of a human being and came in search of you and me. What a great love He has for you and me!

When Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States of America, one day he went to a particular place. All the rich people including the army general and officials were waiting to receive him. When he arrived there, he pushed aside all these elegant and high officials and went straight to a poor young man and asked, "Son, are you waiting to see me? What do you want?" Immediatly, the young man burst into tears and said, "Sir, I am a drummer in your army. But, I have become sick and have been admitted to the hospital. I do not have money. Hence, I am much greived." "Where are your father and mother?" Lincoln asked. The young man replied, "Sir, my father died in the war and my mother died soon after my father's death. Now, I am an orphan." The President was moved with compassion. Immediately he sent a note to the army general saying, "Take care of him." Everyone was amazed by the personal attention that the President gave to an ordinary citizen.

Dear friend, the President of the United States of America pushed aside all the elegant and high officials, in search of a poor young man. The Psalmist says in Psalm 40:17, "But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinks upon me."

Accordingly, to prove that He is mindful of us, poor and weak human beings, He came into this world. The Word of God says that He is a Holy God (Isaiah 6:3). Angels of the Living God stand around Him and sing His praise by saying, "Holy, Holy, Holy". When Isaiah saw this in a vision, he cried out, "Lord, You are holy. I am a man of unclean lips." Such a holy God He is! But He took the form of a man in this sinful world and became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21).

John 1:18 says, "Jesus was in the bosom of His Father". Though He was encompassed by His Father's love, when He came into this world He was encompassed by wicked and ungrateful people. His own disciples betrayed Him and cursed Him (Matthew 26:74). When He was arrested, they ran away from Him (Matthew 26:56). The religious leaders of Jerusalem were jealous of Him when He performed miracles. They handed Him over to be crucified on the cross (Mark 15:9-13). Jesus Christ would have remembered the love that He received from His Heavenly Father and having been deprived of that love, He would have been grieved. But He accepted that for our sake.

2 Corinthians 8:9 says, "Though He was rich, He became poor for our sake". He had no place to rest His head. His clothes were removed from His divine body when he hung on the cross. When He was seated in heaven, He was encompassed by living waters and trees whose leaves could bring healing to the people (Revelation 22:1,2). But when He came into this world, He bore the sicknesses of His people. In the book of Isaiah 53:10 we read, "It pleased the Lord to bruise Jesus". He renounced all the Heavenly glory and became poor for us. Such is the love of our Lord!

"In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him." (1 John 4:9)

My dear friend, let not your heart be troubled. There is a Saviour to love and care for you. He is the One who bore all our sicknesses and the troubles of ungrateful people. He loves you and He will certainly take care of your life. His love will do everything good for you.

Prayer:

Gracious and loving Lord Jesus,

You took the form of a Man and came to this world, because You loved me. You, Son of the Living God, came in search of me leaving Your glory, riches and the care of Your Father. You bore all my sicknesses, pains, sorrows on Your body and crucified them on the cross. But how ungrateful I have been by sinning against You in my thought, word and deed! Lord, please forgive me and accept me as Your loving child. I accept You as my personal Saviour. I give You all the glory, honour and praise.

Amen.
